Discover the E Cigarette As A Stop Smoking Aid
This is your header – totlly against TS and MHRA requirements. as the electronic cigarettees have not been clinically trialled to prove that they can assist in smoking cessation. Please remove this, it is not doing our industry any good to give these people more ammuniation to use against us. You are leaving yourself open to considerable fines by making this claim.
Let me ask you a question. You promote the E Cigarette yourself and it seems from your site that you are recommending the e cig as a substitute for regular tobacco, is that right? What’s the difference from telling someone that they can use an e cigarette instead of smoking tobacco and telling them that an e cigarette to stop smoking? Its pure semantics! If you use an e cigarette instead of a cigarette then you have stopped smoking. By telling me to stop telling others that the electric cig is a stop smoking aid while you sell the products in your shop as a cigarette replacement is hypocrisy in my book.
What have the MHRA requirements got to do with the banner on my site? This is an American site about an American product which is hosted in the United States. The MHRA is a UK regulatory body.
I’m not sure what the TS is or what their requirements are, or what the penalties are for having the audacity to hint to that a product might be able to help people quit cigarettes before they deem that to be case. I’d be interested in having the information though if you could pass it on.

I tend to agree with Jean. Even those of who sell the electronic cigarette have to toe a very shadowy line. Instead of the headline you have, perhaps it should be “Discover a Healthier Way to Smoke” or “The freedom to Smoke Indoors.” State what makes them a healthier alternative or a more socially acceptable product in the body of the page.
One of the major arguments that governmental and quasi-governmental agencies have with the marketing of electronic cigarettes is that it is being marketed as a smoking cessation device without proof. That proof requires long term case studies which will never be available if Big Brother stops this revolutionary device in its tracks.
We all know people (I’m one of them) who tossed aside there conventional cigarettes for good in favor of the e-cigarette. The forums are loaded with examples of people who state this.
Put a sidebar somewhere with testimonials from customers who say that it helped them quit. You won’t be stating yourself that it is a smoking cessation device. You’ll let other people do it for you!

My major problem with what Jean said was that she has her own e cigarette shop on which it is stated that the e cigarette is a stop smoking device but that they weren’t all allowed to say so. To me there is no difference between saying “the e cigarette is a stop smoking aid but we aren’t allowed to say so” and saying “the e cigarette is a stop smoking aid”. Interestingly the wording on Jean’s site has been changed since she left that comment.
My point is that there is that when you use an e cigarette as a “healthier way to smoke” in place of a tobacco cigarette you have stopped smoking. I’m not interested in playing semantics with governmental and quasi-governmental agencies who dictate that i can say the same thing one way but can’t say it another. I perfer to call a spade a spade.
People, don’t get fooled by this “free” sample of e cigarettes, I did and I got my money back. They tell you it is free, then you pay 9.95 for shipping, and it took over a week so it wasn’t even express. Then, a week later they charge your credit card $90. This is just another damn internet scam.
Plus, this e cigarettes suck. They don’t taste or feel like real cigarettes, and, as a former smoker, I got this for my wife, tested it, and got a frigging headache, how the heck is this gonna help anyone get off cigarettes. Just another scam from the cigarette industry.

Why can’t e cigarettes be considered as a no-smoking aid. I tried the patch on several occassions and managed to quit for several months, but if it wasn’t for the therapy behind the patch I would have lasted maybe 2 weeks. Nicotine gum gives me heart burn and I missed the old feeling of having a cigarette in my hand, so I lasted maybe 2 weeks. Hypnosis did not work for me or any other scare tactics. So as far as I’m concerned this is a good alternative combined with another form of therapy and/or counseling. These are available through various groups in your neighborhood for free.
E Cigs in my opinion have definitely got to be safer than regular cigs.
I “smoke” ‘em and love them. I haven’t been back to regular analog cigs since I started vaping.

Good article. The e-cigarette is a great alternative because it allows smokers to have the “experience” of smoking a cigarette, but with less nicotine, no tar, and none of the smell and icky butts left over. Some people are using them to quit smoking but even if someone has no intention on quitting, it’s a much better alternative.

I agree with your comments concerning someone else’s site that is employing the “do as I say, not as I do” philosophy.
The latest ruling by Judge Leon seems to suggest that e-cigarettes will not come under FDA legislation as a drug/device combination provided that they are not marketed as a smoking cessation product. The Federal District Court judge had no problem with them being marketed to recreational users of tobacco products as a “healthier alternative” as long as no therapeutic claims were made. His preliminary ruling seems to suggest that the FDA will have to create an entire new set of rules that will regulate the tobacco industry as a whole if they are going to try to regulate the e-cigarette.
Even if they do that, they may not be able to regulate the device, itself, but rather only the e-liquid or pre-filled cartridges. Of course, if we are talking about the ones that contain no nicotine, they will never have a leg to stand on. To regulate the e-cigarette device, itself, they would then be forced to regulate pipes & rolling papers as well, which, in and of themselves, pose no harm at all. The FDA is fighting windmills here!
