If you smoke cigarettes and have tried to give up at any point then you know how difficult it is to stop. Everyone you speak to will generously offer their own stop smoking tips to try and help you give up but this advice only seems to make things worse. Most of us take several attempts before we manage to quit smoking cigarettes for good with 75% of us returning to the habit after our first seemingly successful stop smoking attempt.
Why Is It Hard To Stop Smoking?
Of course the main reason cigarettes are so addictive is because of the nicotine contained in the tobacco. When we hear that nicotine is a substance so addictive that it can be compared to the illegal street drugs cocaine and heroin, be begin to realize why we find it so hard to give up smoking cigarettes. Soon after we start to smoke cigarettes our body adjusts to the effects of the nicotine and we become dependent as the body craves the drug to maintain its natural equilibrium.
Apart from the physical addiction there is also a psychological element to cigarette addiction. We begin to feel incomplete without cigarettes at certain times in our daily routine. Breaking these habits becomes more and more difficult the longer we smoke so although it may seem like an insurmountable mountain the task will only become more difficult the longer you leave it.
Make the decision today to free yourself from nicotine today, join a support group and get yourself a copy of “The easy way to stop smoking” by Allan Carr. With a little perseverance and luck you’ll be living a happy nicotine free life in no time. And remember, even if you don’t manage to stop smoking this time its easy to give it another go whenever you want.

YES!! IT IS THAT HARD! I watched my husband die a terrible death from cigarretes! I have tried cold turkey, cutting down, Nicotine patches and gum, Chantix, and have had no results. Now I am going to try this e-cigarrete produce. Will it work? Will it at least help me cut down? I do not know. All I know is that according to what I have read I will not be poisoning the air around me. I will be getting the nicodine my body has come to need after 35 years of smoking and I will not longer smell like a cigarrete and my teenager will no longer smell like cigarretes. My teenage daughter will no longer have to put up with friends in High School asking to borrow a cigarette because she smells like a smoker even though she does not smoke and hates my cigarretes. IF it does not stop my smoking, it will at least give me an alternative to real cigarretes and the air polution I am contributing to by smoking a tobacco cigarrete. Never give up..try whatever you need to try and help clear our air! Thanks for the time…Mary
Wow Mary- 35 years is a long time. I smoked cigarettes for 20 years and I thought that was a long time. That is terrible that people ask your daughter for a butt even though she doesnt smoke. I quit about 2 months ago- cold turkey. 1st month was good-Now no one is perfect, yes I have slipped a few times, but mostly… I quit 2 months ago. First off- you CANT smoke in your home- no matter what. At least spare your family from the smell. I have found also that if you really dont want to quit than you wont- plain and simple. But at least put some restrictions on yourself- like dont smoke in your house, your car, etc. I know it sucks, but chew gum, do some push ups, go for a walk, do something else, just dont smoke!! If you put your mind to it, and REALLY want it- then you will. I am sorry that you had to witness your husband die a terrible death bc of cigarettes:(
